Jippity Cricket And Flibbity Giddget Used to laugh so hard they had stitches They’d play games with friends Till the day’s end Or make music with their instruments The cricket and the fairy Mostly happy and merry Even though life wasn’t perfect But lately they needed To feel less depleted And they struck at a bit of wisdom Sweets at night Make things alright Bringing smiles and satisfiction So Flibbity Giddget and Jippity Cricket Ate cookies in the kitchen Flibbity baked them But Jippity just ate them And licked the bowl for mixin The cookies were good to eat Perfectly chewy ’n sweet The two enjoyed their time with’em They’d talk and laugh Split the last cookie in half Sharing the day’s stories and business Jippity told a story of escape One which made Jippity late Because of a massive malicious pigeon Flibbity told of frustration How she needed a vacation From constant magic and endless decisions Being a mother and fairy Could make her weary and wary And the world a bit hard to exist in So little Jippity Cricket And poor Flibbity Giddget Relaxed with cookies in the kitchen While Flibbity cleaned Jippity would sing Songs about star wishin Of puppets and fairies Fun and a little scary Flibbity would patiently listen Flibbity was tired Just wanted to retire To the bed that she was fixin Flibbity’d made dinner And couldn’t remember Her many other accomplishments Flibbity bore a heavy load Sometimes felt ready to explode From all the pressure of livin She liked Jippity’s songs They helped her get along But she didn’t want to mention She wished Jippity’d do more Regularly take on some chores Even just cleanin the kitchen So Jippity ate cookies Flibbity bought groceries Feelings kept deep within Flibbity paid bills And worked with great skill While Jippity relaxed and went fishin Jippity worked five days Flibbity never got a break And this caused Flibbity tension Flibbity’s work never ended But her growing resentment Somehow she managed to keep hidden At least nine hours a day Jippity worked for pay And worked hard in that position Jippity’s job was rough It was dangerous and tough Often gettin chased by chickens When Jippity came home The kids chirped and moaned For the dinner on which they hadn’t pitched in Jippity sits down While Flibbity runs around Preparing everything with magical precision When all are well fed Flibbity puts the kids to bed Then she tends to the kitten Jippity heats up the oven Just as Flibbity comes in Her eyes glazed and distant Jippity gives her a hug Of course that’s not enough To pay for all Flibbity’s given So they sit at the table Like an old fable Imagining their life as a fiction Flibbity Giddget Jippity Cricket Eating cookies in the kitchen
